Introduction:
After what seems like forever, BioWare is finally back doing what it does best: choice and consequence-based RPGs. Well, I say RPGs, but the truth is Dragon Age: The Veilguard is more action than RPG for the first time in the franchise’s history, meaning it’s definitely more accessible for non-RPG fans this time around.

Regardless, The Veilguard is wild, it’s big, it’s epic and other than the RPG mechanics being super lite, it’s very much a Dragon Age title. It only took 7 years to get one since Dragon Age: Inquisition! About bloody time!

Walkthrough:
As far as Dragon Age games go, this is perhaps the easiest of the lot. While there are a couple of missable achievements, you have to have your head in the clouds and not pay attention to our guide to miss them.

So, before we break down the list, let’s talk the missable achievements and what you need to keep an eye out for:

  • The Soul of a City (15G)- You can miss this chapter 11 achievement if you decide to help Treviso in chapter 6, without having a significant amount of Shadow Dragon faction reputation strength from selling valuables.
  • The Storm Quelled (20G)- This requires finding 3 Mysterious Circles before the point of no return in chapter 11.
  • The Ones That Last (75G)- You’ll need to finish all 7 companion quests, reach 2,900 faction points for all 6 factions, and also make the correct choices in the endgame to unlock this one.

So, basically, the big sticking point is The Soul of a City (15G)achievement (Shadow Dragons faction rank 3) and The Ones That Last (75G)(basically 100% achievement), all of which hinge on one decision in chapter 6 in the “On Deadly Wings”/“On Blighted Wings” main quest. So, prepare a save before that decision there and even if you do mess it up, you can zip through on storyteller difficulty after and finish off whatever you missed in no time whatsoever.

Incidentally, I managed to only 3-star 5 of the 6 factions but still got The Ones That Last (75G)achievement - whether that’s because I was a Shadow Dragon (and that was the faction I was short on) or the decisions I made at the end, who knows? We did still have to go back and run through chapter 6 to 11 to get The Soul of a City (15G)though.

Regardless, if you pick to save Minrathous, you don’t need to worry about any of that and can get everything maxed out in chapter 11 before the point of no return (which is during the main quest, “When Plans Align”).

Playthrough 1:
In order to get everything in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you’re looking at 60-80 hours, depending on the difficulty you play on and what not. And other than the aforementioned chapter 6 decision, from chapter 6 to chapter 11 you can pretty much take your time and not worry about missing anything.

There are a whopping 53 achievements in all:

  • 6 related to maxing out factions
  • 7 related to maxing out companions
  • 3 related to Memento collecting (including the Legendary items one - Enhancements! (25G))
  • 14 story-related achievements
  • 6 Fen’Harel memory achievements
  • And a whole lot more.

The whole lot more can be broken down even further.

Exploration

  • Across the Imperial Highway (15G)- Visited every district possible throughout Northern Thedas.
  • No Real Gods (25G)- Drew out the latent magic in every Altar of the Evanuris.

Side Quests

  • A Most Esteemed Purveyor (15G)- Few people are worthy of an invitation, you know.
  • Bringing Down the Sky (25G)- Defeated all high dragons across northern Thedas (more like 3 or 4 side quests than 1).
  • The Unbound (25G)- Broke the seals containing an ancient threat and faced down what lied inside.

RPG

  • A New Look (15G)- Changed the look of an item for the first time.
  • A Faction's Favor (15G)- Upgraded a faction merchant for the first time.
  • Rune For Improvement (15G)- Socketed a rune for the first time.
  • Stacking the Deck (25G)- Spent at least 52 points in Rook's skill trees.

Combat

  • Between a Rook and a Hard Place (15G)- Performed five takedowns.
  • Falling For You (15G)- Defeated an enemy by knocking them off a ledge during combat.

Misc.

  • In Peace (15G)- Found hope in the aftermath.
  • Nostalgia Trip (15G)- Tested for fall damage and survived in the Lighthouse.
  • Clear Minds and Open Hearts (15G)- Let fly your voice to Mythal.

As you can see, there’s nothing too labour intensive there (as long as you stick to the correct decisions) and you’ll have plenty of time to do everything you have left before you advance past the point of no return - and if not, you get spat back into the world right after the last boss fight, before the point of no return, anyway. So, while they’re not massively missable, you’ll still have to keep an eye on them.

Conclusion:
If you were expecting anything as tricky or lengthy as the previous Dragon Age games, then The Veilguard will either delight or disappoint you. In short: it’s easier, far less stressful and won’t keep you up at night… like Inquisition’s Nightmare difficulty did!

Regardless of that, though, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an enjoyable romp. Sure, it’s more of an action game than an RPG these days, but don’t let that put you off. It’s still fun, and the environments you get to traverse through are pretty delightful. In all, it’s a pretty decent way to spend 70 hours if you ask us!

There are 52 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (4)

    Across the Imperial Highway

    15

Visited every district possible throughout Northern Thedas.

In order to unlock the ‘Across the Imperial Highway’ achievement in The Veilguard, you not only need to visit every area (below), but you also need to step foot in every district too i.e. the Grey Hold at the Hossberg Wetlands all the way to Wharf Crossing South in Dock Town.

While this might sound daunting, as long as you do all the main quests, side quests and companion quests, you’ll absolutely get this without breaking too much of a sweat - especially if you’re going for all the achievements (like the one for all the Altars of the Evanuri and Fen’Harel Altars - i.e. No Real Gods (25G)) while simultaneously trying to get most of the chests. If that’s your approach you’ll get this without any additional effort.

The locations you need to discover all the districts are as follows:

    The Fade

    • Lighthouse
    • Crossroads

    Tevinter

    • Dock Town (Minrathous)

    Arlathan

    • Arlathan Forest
    • Arlathan Crater

    Antiva

    • Treviso

    Rivain

    • Rivain Coast
    • The Hall of Valor

    Anderfels

    • High Anderfels
    • Hossberg Wetlands
    • Deep Roads
    • Isana Nagat
    • Weisshaupt

    Nevarra

    • Necropolis Halls
    • Blackthorne Manor

So, visit all of those areas and visit all the districts within them and this achievement will unlock before you get into the endgame and beyond (i.e. the end of chapter 11, all the way through to the end of chapter 14, which don't count for this achievement).

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (5)

    A Most Esteemed Purveyor

    15

Few people are worthy of an invitation, you know.

After completing the main quest, “The Siege of Weisshaupt,” in chapter 8, you’ll find yourself back at the Lighthouse ready to crack on with the 9th chapter. However, before you do, head over to the exclamation point at the Lighthouse and speak to the Caretaker.

The Caretaker will tell you about the notorious Black Emporium, one that has appeared in Dragon Age games before. This will start the side quest, “The Black Emporium,” which will take you to the backalleys of Dock Town.

Follow the directions and quest markers, and as soon as you step foot inside Xenon the Antiquarian’s Black Emporium, the ‘A Most Esteemed Purveyor’ achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (6)

    A New Look

    15

Changed the look of an item for the first time.

If you head to the “Wardrobe” at the Lighthouse in The Veilguard (i.e. the gold chest in the Lighthouse when you first get there, or the wardrobe in the meditation room when you get access to that), you’ll be able to interact with the game’s transmogrification system, allowing you to change the look of a piece of gear without changing the stats.

To unlock the ‘A New Look’ achievement, then, you need to head there and quite simply change the look of any piece of gear for the first time. Once you do, this achievement is all yours.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (7)

Between a Rook and a Hard Place

    15

    Performed five takedowns.

During the main quest, “The Singing Blade,” you'll enter some elven ruins in an attempt to retrieve Solas’ dagger. When there, during your first real battle, you'll learn the takedown ability.

Takedowns are effectively special moves you can perform with the Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (8) button once you've filled an enemy's stagger gauge. Simply do this 5 times and the ‘Between a Room and a Hard Place’ achievement will unlock.

Super easy, this one, as you’ll likely do hundreds before the credits roll.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (9)

    A Faction's Favor

    15

Upgraded a faction merchant for the first time.

Throughout northern Thedas there are a number of faction merchants i.e. Antivan Crows has a merchant in the Cantori Diamond in the Treviso Canals, and the Shadow Dragons has one in the centre of the Sanctum in Dock Town.

Once you have enough money, some specific materials and also enough favour with the relevant faction, you’ll be able to rank up a faction merchant to get access to better stocks.

While you can upgrade all of the game’s 6 factions to rank 4, you only need to upgrade any of them to level 2 to unlock the ‘A Faction’s Favour’ achievement.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (10)

    Rune For Improvement

    15

Socketed a rune for the first time.

During the Treviso main quest, “Sea of Blood,” in chapter 4, you’ll head to The Ossuary to save Lucanis.

About midway through said quest, you’ll face off against a boss on your way to Lucanis, The Fabricator. Once you defeat said boss, you’ll unlock a chest which has the Glaciate rune inside of it.

Once you’ve looted it, head to the Character tab in the main menu and head to the right of the screen to the three slots that surround Solas’ dagger. Click on a slot, select the rune you just unlocked and equip it. Once you do, the ‘Rune for Improvement’ achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (11)

    Stacking the Deck

    25

Spent at least 52 points in Rook's skill trees.

The maximum rank for Rook in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is level 50, meaning by the time you reach level 50 you’ll have used 50 skill points in the Skills tree of the main menu.

In order to unlock the ‘Stacking the Deck’ achievement, then, you’ll need to reach level 50 and grab a couple of the Fen’Harel Altars - which give you 1 skill point for each one you find and solve.

Fortunately you’ll need to unlock all 29 Altars of the Evanuri and Fen’Harel Altars for the No Real Gods (25G)achievement anyway, so this achievement will come naturally, long before the end of the game.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (12)

    Bringing Down the Sky

    25

Defeated all high dragons across northern Thedas.

As was the case in Inquisition, The Veilguard is chock full of high dragons to take down for valuable items galore and a hefty chunk of XP. There are 5 high dragon encounters in all in The Veilguard, where you’ll face off against 6 dragons - all of which are tied to quests.

The location of all 5 high dragon encounters and the quest you face them in are as follows:

    • The Formless One - Necropolis Halls - Chamber of the Unforged - Complete “Restless Spirits” and “Pinnacle of its Kind” to face off against this level 40 high dragon.
    • Corius the Icetalon & Seartooth Vyrantus - Complete the “Fire and Ice” main quest to fight this pair.
    • Fangscorcher - Found in the “Slaying the Fangscorcher” companion quest with Taash.
    • Kataranda the Stormrider - Found in the quest, “Kataranda the Stormrider” (Rivain Coast/Lords of Fortune side quest), which popped up as an exclamation point in the Lighthouse after defeating the Fangschorcher.
    • Kaltenzahn - At the end of the “Lair of the Dragon King” companion quest for Taash is this final high dragon.

Incidentally, the Revenant Dragon you fight in Beacon Island in the Crossroads during “The Heart of Corruption” side quest does not count towards this achievement - we assume as he’s not really a high dragon, and is more of an abomination.

Kill the aforementioned 6 high dragons and the ‘Bringing Down the Sky’ achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (13)

    The Unbound

    25

Broke the seals containing an ancient threat and faced down what lied inside.

If you head to the Necropolis after you’ve recruited Emmrich, you’ll be able to take on the side quest, “Restless Spirits,” where you have to rescue 4 wisps from around the central atrium of the Necropolis Halls.

Taking all 4 wisps to the door to the northwest in the atrium will open up the large doorway and the passageway beyond which leads to the Chamber of the Unforged. Once you open said door and make your way down the passage, after you've killed a few enemies, the side quest “Restless Spirits” will come to a close. However, if you walk up to the door further down the corridor, you’ll speak to a spirit and start the next side quest, “Pinnacle of its Kind.”

In “Pinnacle of its Kind,” you’ll have to head to the Arlathan Forest, Dock Town and the Hossberg Wetlands to kill a powerful spirit (and their back-up). Once you’ve defeated all 3 you can head back to the Chamber of the Unforged and gain access to the main arena for one more fight. This time you’re facing off against a level 40 high dragon called “The Formless One.”

The Formless One isn’t too difficult as long as you learn when to dodge and focus on weak points when they arise. In fact, we defeated it at level 30 and still had a couple of health potions left at the end. Just make sure you can trigger a few combos and you should be good (we used Bellara’s Enfeebling Shot and Taash’s Dragonfire Strike to do some serious damage).

Once you defeat the high dragon, ‘The Unbound’ achievement is all yours.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (14)

    Part 1: The Minrathous Job

    15

    Technically, the plan worked.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

You’ll earn this achievement for completing the game’s prologue, a quest called. “The End of the Beginning.”

As soon as you’ve disrupted the ritual in the Arlathan Forest and ended up back with the crew at the Lighthouse, this achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (15)

    Part 2: Ruin's Reach

    15

Made unexpected acquaintances in the most unusual of places.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

In the second chapter of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you'll head down to the Arlathan Forest to investigate the aftermath of the failed ritual and partake in two main quests: “In Entropy's Grasp” and “Shadows Crossing.”

Once you've returned to the Veil Jumper’s camp and completed both quests, the achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (16)

    Part 3: Awakening

    15

Discovered a singing blade, and the awakening of ancient magic.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

Unlike the previous chapters, chapter 3 is largely exposition-based with no action sequences to complement it. During this chapter you'll head back to the Lighthouse and plan for the next steps, triggering 3 main quests in the process. As you go to leave the Lighthouse via the Eluvian in the main quest, “Into the Crossroads,” before you actually step into the Crossroads, this achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (17)

    Part 4: Tevinter Nights

    15

Uncovered a darkness etched deep into the streets of Minrathous and beyond.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

While chapter 3 was short and full of exposition, chapter 4 is a meaty affair with 2 fairly lengthy quests to be getting on with. The first of which is “Sea of Blood,” which sees you head to the Ossuary in the Treviso Canals, where you recruit Lucanis. The second is “The Smuggler Relic Case,” which takes place in Dock Town in Minrathous.

Once you’ve completed both quests, this achievement will be all yours.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (18)

    Part 5: Anvallenim

    15

Peeled back the shroud concealing a cult's dark movements and gained some valuable insight.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

After recruiting Lucanis and investigating the relic at Dock Town, you’ll be called back again to Dock Town to deal with a worrying trend in a quest called, “Shadows of Minrathous.”

This fairly short main quest takes place in and around Minrathous, and once you’ve learned the truth of the Venatori and returned to The Viper, this achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (19)

Part 6: Old Blood, Older Oaths

    15

Faced a howling storm to discover a long-held secret, and found out what it means to be a leader.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

Chapter 6 will see Rook and co. head to northwest Thedas to the High Anderfels, specifically Griffon Aerie, before going to assist one of either Treviso or Minrathous from an impending attack. This will take place across 3 main quests: “In Peace, Vigilance,” “A Warden’s Best Friend” and finally, “On Deadly Wings”/“On Blighted Wings.”

Once you’ve defended whichever city you decide to head to, and before the quest ends, you’ll unlock this achievement.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (20)

Part 7: Fire, Feather, and Fade

    15

Searched high and low to bring together a team unlike any other.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

As part of the Completing the Veilguard main quest, you’ll have to complete your line-up by adding 2 new recruits: namely a dragon slayer and a Fade expert. This comes in the form of two main quests: “The Dragon Slayer,” where you recruit Taash in Rivain; and “Where the Dead Must Go,” where you have to head to the Grand Necropolis to recruit Emmrich.

Once you’ve completed both quests, and recruited both Taash and Emmrich, this achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (21)

    Part 8: No Sacrifice Greater

    15

Practiced vigilance, found peace wanting, and witnessed the meaning of sacrifice.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

The eighth chapter of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a meaty one - perhaps the biggest so far. In this chapter you’ll not only have to meet with Morrigan in “Shades of the Blight,” but you’ll also have to head to the Hossberg Wetlands in the main quest, “Something Wrong.”

But wait, that’s not it! In chapter eight you’ll also regroup at the Lighthouse in “A Change on the Wind” before heading to Weisshaupt in “The Siege of Weisshaupt” to repel a Darkspawn invasion. Once you’ve defeated the Archdemon Razikale this achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (22)

Part 9: Bonds and Blackened Wings

    15

Forged bonds with a family found amidst an unravelling world.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

Following the Siege of Weisshaupt, chapter 9 sees Rook and co. look to solve a few other issues that are plaguing the party. In chapter 9 there’s a couple of meeting main quests, “After the Storm” and “A Fighting Chance,” but the actual main quests sees you hunt down the Gloom Howler (“The Cauldron," which is effectively Davrin’s companion quest) and then take on the blighted dragon you fought previously, in “Fire and Ice.”

Once you’ve defeated Corius the Icetalon & Seartooth Vyrantus, the ninth chapter will come to a close and the achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (23)

Part 10: The Blood of Arlathan

    15

Followed a crimson trail weaving through the heartland of an ancient empire.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

Chapter 10 of The Veilguard essentially sees you head to Arlathan Forest to assist the Veil Jumped in the main quest, “Unwanted Guests.” After that quest and another exposition main quest, “Grim Bonds,” you’ll finally head to the Arlathan Crater in “Blood of Arlathan” to liberate the Dalish Elves who have become prisoners of the Venatori.

Once you’ve freed the elves and escaped the crater, chapter 10 will come to a close and you’ll unlock this achievement.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (24)

    Part 11: As Shadows Fall

    15

Tracked evil through the heart of Antiva, and found that light casts the longest shadows.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

The 11th chapter of The Veilguard is the last chapter before the point of no return, You’ll kick things off with an exchange between Rook and Solas (“The Words of the Wolf”) before heading to speak to the Inquisitor one last time (“Legacies and Legends”), but the main quest of the chapter is “For the Love of Treviso,” where you have to head to Treviso to learn of the location of the final ritual.

The chapter ends with two exposition quests: “To Act As One,” where the team discusses its final plans; and “When Plans Align,” which is the point of no return. Once you’ve spoken to Morrigan and agreed to proceed with the plan, this achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (25)

    Part 12: The Best Tales

    15

Ascended to the throne of would-be gods under the shadow of their legacy.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

In chapter 12, things start to get a little mental, and the game progresses quickly. There are three main quests in this chapter: “The Shadowed Sun,” “Isle of the Gods” and
    “A Cage for Gods.”

Now, there’s a major decision to make in this chapter, which has far reaching consequences as the plot goes on. This will be who will you send to lead the second team out of Harding and Davrin. Whoever you send will ultimately meet their demise in the coming chapters. So, choose carefully. This does not affect anything to do with The Ones That Last (75G).

You’ll also have to choose whether to send Bellara or Neve to clear the wards. Again, this decision doesn’t matter. Whoever you choose will get kidnapped, but fear not, you’ll rescue them in the next chapter.

Simply defeat Ghilan’nain, escape the Prison of Regrets in the Fade and then after the cutscene at the Lighthouse the chapter will come to an end, and this achievement will unlock.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (26)

    Part 13: The Last Gambit

    15

The only thing left to lose is everything.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

Chapter 13, like chapter 12, moves at a ridiculous pace, and has a lot of key decisions you have to make. Again, like chapter 12, chapter 13 is made up of 3 quests: “The Dragon and the Dread Wolf,” “The Last Gambit” and “One Last Breath.”

Now, there are some massive key choices you have to make here that can screw you in the long run if you don’t make the correct decisions. It does seem as if there is not just one correct answer, but we found the following works.

    • Send Emmrich to protect the Veil Jumpers while they unravel the wards.
    • Send Lucanis to take down the Venatori commander with the Antivan Crows and Lords of Fortune.
    • Send Taash to take on the Juggernaut with the Grey Wardens and the Mourn Watch.
    • Take Neve and Davrin/Harding with you as party members.
    • Then, finally, choose to leave Davrin at the Divine Manor to stay on the frontline.

The above choices were successful with us, and as a result, we managed to keep everyone alive (as they were all Heroes of the Veilguard, and we had rank 3 for most factions).

Once you’ve finished the cutscene where the team climbs to the top of the structure, the achievement will unlock, and you’ll finally be on the last chapter.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (27)

Part 14: The Dread Wolf Rises

    50

Faced down demons, dragons, darkspawn, and even the Dread Wolf.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

The final chapter kicks off when you reach the top of the structure, and revolves around the main quest “The Dread Wolf Rises.” Basically, all you need to do in this chapter is stop Ghilan'nain. Do that and the achievement is all yours.

However, there are a couple of key things you need to say to avoid the battle with Solas and potentially save him - we’re not sure whether this counts for The Ones That Last (75G),so maybe do it anyway just in case.

So, when you reach the conversation with Solas at the end, say the following:

    • “You don’t have to do this” - Which uses Myrthal to try and persuade Solas to not collapse the Veil. You’ll get access to this response if you’ve done everything in the game (this is part of the “Regrets of the Dread Wolf” side quest).
    • “Then do this the right way”

Once the credits start to roll, this achievement is all yours.

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard Achievement Guide & Road Map (28)

    The Ones That Last

    75

Beat the odds and walked into the sunset.

    **MISSABLE**

‘The Ones That Last’ achievement is a bit of a confusing one. Naturally you’d assume that you need to finish all companion quests to make all your companions “Heroes of the Veilguard,” while simultaneously getting all factions to level 3 to save everyone.

However, for us, we managed to unlock this by getting all factions to level 3 except the Shadow Dragons (as we decided to save Treviso and not Minrathous, which locked us out of the Minrathous’ faction merchant and we were stuck at level 2 after completing every side quest). Quite why it worked for us, we’re not sure? Maybe because our background was the Shadow Dragons of Minrathous. Who knows?!

That said, while we did save everyone, we had to go back and get the The Soul of a City (15G)achievement separately. So, if you don’t want to do that, choose to save Minrathous and you’ll be able to get everything in one run.

So, first things first, in order to max out the 6 factions, you’re going to want to do all the side missions and companion quests as they pop up. There’ll also be a load of main quests that boost faction reputation as well.

On top of that, you can sell valuable items to the faction merchants of each faction as well. That is, everyone except the Shadow Dragons (Minrathous) or Antivan Crows (Treviso) - depending on who you left to protect themselves. However, if you concentrate on one of those early by selling valuables to them, before the end of chapter 6, it really doesn't matter who you choose. Just make sure the one place you’re ignoring has 2 stars at least by the end of chapter 6.

Other than the level 3 faction ranks, you also need to fully complete each of your companions’ until they reach Hero of the Veilguard status.

Then, after you’ve done all that, it’s a matter of making the following decisions.

    Chapter 6 Decision

    • While you can choose to save either Minrathous or Treviso and still get this achievement, the chances are you won’t get the The Soul of a City (15G)achievement (for 3-staring Minrathous) if you do choose to save Treviso (unless you’ve sold a lot valuables to the Shadow Dragons’ merchant before this major decision).. Regardless, prepare a back-up save here in case things go south.

    Chapter 11 Decision

    • It doesn’t really matter who you end up choosing in chapter 11, between Harding and Davrin, because whoever you pick eventually dies, but it does not affect this achievement.

    Chapter 12 Decision

    • You’ll have to choose between Bellara and Neve here, and whoever you choose will get kidnapped. Fear not, though, you’ll save them later on in the game as it’s part of the story.

    Chapter 13 Decision

    • Send Emmrich to protect the Veil Jumpers while they unravel the wards.
    • Send Lucanis to take down the Venatori commander with the Antivan Crows and Lords of Fortune.
    • Send Taash to take on the Juggernaut with the Grey Wardens and the Mourn Watch.
    • Take Neve and Davrin/Harding with you as party members.
    • Then, finally, choose to leave Davrin at the Divine Manor to stay on the frontline.

    Chapter 14 Decision

When you are face to face with Solas, make the following choices:

    • “You don’t have to do this” - Which uses Myrthal to try and persuade Solas to not collapse the Veil (this becomes available when you’ve completed “The Regrets of the Dread King” side quest).
    • “Then do this the right way”

Do all that and you should save everyone and walk into the sunset relatively unscathed. You’ll also unlock ‘The Ones That Last’ achievement too. Not bad eh?

    The Storm Quelled

    20

    The poisoned fruit ripens.

    **MISSABLE**

In order to unlock ‘The Storm Quelled’ achievement you’ll have to find 3 Mysterious Circles dotted around northern Thedas before the point of no return at the end of chapter 11. While it might be unclear what these are when you pick them up, with nothing but a Mysterious Circle entry added to your codex and a couple of innocuous remarks, what it does is pretty interesting.

What it actually does is open up a new secret ending to enjoy once the credits have finished rolling - hinting at the future of the franchise after The Veilguard.

So, in order to unlock this achievement you simply need to find the 3 Mysterious Circles (which seem to have multiple locations if you happen to miss them in locations that become inaccessible) and then simply just finish the game.

The location of the 3 Mysterious Circles are as follows:

    • Arlathan Forest - On the small island to the east-northeast in the Forest Mire is your first Mysterious Circle, near a special chest. Use the laser devices situated around the island in the lake to create a bridge to get there.
    • Deep Roads / Necropolis - In the southwest corner of the Necropolis where you fought The Formless One. Incidentally, on my first runthrough I found this one by the final boss in the Deep Roads as part of Harding’s first proper companion quest.
    • Crossroads - The last Mysterious Circle can be found in the southwest corner of where you fought the Revenant Dragon in Beacon Island in the Crossroads during “The Heart of Corruption.”

And then, once you have all 3, just finish the game and this secret ending cutscene about poisoned fruit hinting at the future for Dragon Age after The Veilguard will reveal itself. And ‘The Storm Quelled’ achievement is all yours too.

    In Peace

    15

    Found hope in the aftermath.

There are a series of quests in the Hossberg Wetlands that come available as you make your way through The Veilguard’s story. This Grey Warden storyline has you investigating and getting to the bottom of the reasons for the uncontrollable blight that is harassing the people in the Hossberg Wetlands. The “Something” quests start in chapter 8 with the main quest, “Something Wrong.”

After you’ve completed “Fire and Ice” in chapter 9 you’ll be able to access the second quest, “Something Wicked,” while the last quest, “Something’s Coming” can be tackled after “The Words of the Wolf” in chapter 11.

Now, there’s a reason we’re talking about this series of side quests, and that’s because when you finish Something’s Coming, you actually clear a significant portion of the blight damage in the Hossberg Wetlands. This will thus open up small areas with chests behind them in the Hossberg Wetlands, and more importantly, in these new areas are 3 blue flowers - that will bloom as soon as the blight is taken care of.

The location of the 3 flowers are as follows:

    • Once you’ve finished “Something’s Coming,” the first blue flower is in that area where the quest ends.
    • There’s also one to the north of Solitude’s Edge (east of the northern fast-travel point) where there’s another chest and small enclosure. The second flower is in there.
    • The final one can be found at the Old Crossroads (east of Grey Hold) near a previously covered chest.

Once you have all 3, you simply need to then head to the far southeast, to the Blighted Shallows where you fought Corius the Icetalon & Seartooth Vyrantus in the “Fire and Ice” main quest.

There you’ll now be able to find Hope, a blue spirit, and you can lay the three blue flowers down in front of him. Do that and the ‘In Peace’ achievement will unlock.

    No Real Gods

    25

Drew out the latent magic in every Altar of the Evanuris.

Dotted throughout northern Thedas are two types of altars:

    • Altars of Evanuris, which boost your health by 100 points.
    • Fen’Harel Altars, which give you an extra skill point.

Now, the reason we mentioned both despite the achievement explicitly mentioning the “Altar of the Evanuris” is that in order to unlock the ‘No Real Gods’ achievement, you need to get all of them, including the Fen’Harel Altars.

There are 29 to collect in all, and can be found at the following locations:

    • Crossroads - 9 (4 x Altars of Evanuris & 5 x Fen’Harel Altars)
    • Arlathan Forest - 7 (4 x Altars of Evanuris & 3 x Fen’Harel Altars)
    • Dock Town - 3 (1 x Altar of Evanuris & 2 x Fen’Harel Altars)
    • Treviso - 1 (1 x Fen’Harel Altar)
    • Hossberg Wetlands - 4 (2 x Altars of Evanuris & 2 x Fen’Harel Altars)
    • Rivain Coast - 5 (3 x Altars of Evanuris & 2 x Fen’Harel Altars)

Once you’ve completed all 29, which are usually in places you’ll naturally come across, the ‘No Real Gods’ achievement will unlock.

    Reflections

    25

Helped an eluvian tinkerer find herself in a shattered world.

The ‘Reflections’ achievement in The Veilguard relates to Bellara, one of your first recruits, and her companion missions. Simply check in with Bellara at the Lighthouse often and you’ll start to trigger a number of events, from conversations and musings, to outings and quests.

You can do these whenever, just so long as you’ve finished the thread by the end of chapter 11 (the point of no return). Even then, if you do leave it late, you can get conversations and the like to spawn by just fast-travelling somewhere else and then returning to the Lighthouse.

Below are all the quests, conversations, their rough trigger points and when the achievement unlocks.

    • Echoes of the Past (Outing) - After “Sea of Blood” and “The Smuggler Relic Case,”
    • Speak to Bellara after Shades of the Blight and Something Wrong
    • Speak to Bellara when After The Storm commences (part 9) to talk about the elf’s past
    • The Demon’s Bargain - Speak to Bellara when After The Storm commences (and some time has passed) to start the companion quest.
    • Speak to Bellara after completing the main quest Fire and Ice to hear about Bellara’s troubles.
    • After some time has passed, speak to Bellara once again to learn about her book she’s writing.
    • Speak to Bellara at the Lighthouse after completing the chapter 10 main quest, Unwanted Guests to start Hummingbird’s Lament (conversation).
    • Head back to the Lighthouse and speak to Bellara to talk about her brother.
    • Through the Shadows (Quest) - Speak to Bellara after The Words of the Wolf in chapter 11 to start.
    • Head back to the Lighthouse after finishing Through the Shadows and speak to Bellara.
    • The Forest of Spirits (Outing) - Head back to the Lighthouse to unlock this outing, which is when the achievement unlocks at the end.
    • Then head back again to talk about her book.

As an aside, some of these achievements have been notably unpredictable to unlock. Belara’s, for instance, took me doing the same quest over and over again (3 times) to get it to finally unlock, so prepare lots of saves in case that happens.

Witnessed the first memory of Fen'Harel.

In order to witness this (and the other 5 memories of Fen’Harel), you first need to progress the story up to the “Shadows in Blight” quest, where you’ll get a Fen’Harel statue from the Inquisitor.

The quest relating to this, in fact, is the “Regrets of the Dread Wolf” side quest, which you can start by playing through Solas’ memories in the Crossroads. As soon as you’ve completed 1 of those, and collected the Fen’Harel statue at the end, it’ll unlock the quest in your quest log - a quest that will require you to seek out the 5 Fen’Harel statues. These 5, plus the story one you receive, make up the location of all 6 Fen’Harel statues.

Once you’ve got a Fen’Harel statue, and got past the “Shadows in the Blight” main quest, head back to the Lighthouse and you’ll be able to put said statue on a plinth.

The first statue goes on the plinth at the top of the stairs, overlooking the communal library area. Once you’ve watched the memory and shared your experience with the team, this achievement will unlock.

Found at least 20 Mementos and returned them to the Caretaker.

Mementos in Dragon Age: The Veilguard aren’t just collectibles that build upon Thedas and The Veilguard’s lore, Mementos actually grant you you a certain amount of Caretaker Power points too, which allows you to upgrade the Lighthouse’s Caretaker’s Workshop - which in turn allows you to enchant and upgrade all equipment items (more about that later in Enhancements! (25G)).

While there are 2 achievementsfor collecting 20 Mementos (‘A Rook Likes Shiny Things’) and 80 Mementos (A Rook Really Likes Shiny Things (20G)), you’re going to need around 150 Mementos to unlock the Enhancements! (25G)achievement.

Throughout northern Thedas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, there are 6 factions… 6 factions you’ll need to keep happy if you want the perfect ending (The Ones That Last (75G)achievement).

Now, there are numerous ways to earn faction reputation points:

    • Firstly, by doing quests for them. Whether that’s main quests tied to that faction, side quests or even companion quests for the faction-related individual.
    • Secondly, by selling valuables to the faction merchant.

    It’s as simple as that.

The below is the list of quests that you get from in and around Treviso that you can complete for the Antivan Crows, all of which will earn you faction strength points. On top of that, all of Lucanis’ companion quests also grant Antivan Crows faction strength points too.

Also, it should be noted that you don’t need to max out the faction strength (3,200), as on multiple occasions the faction achievements popped for us when we hit the 3-star level (2,900).

    • A City Blighted - If you chose to save Minrathous over Treviso.
    • Missing in Action - If you chose to save Minrathous over Treviso.
    • A Crow and a Gentleman - If you chose to save Minrathous over Treviso.
    • Recalling the Lost - If you chose to save Minrathous over Treviso.
    • A Slow Poison - Available after completing “Sea of Blood.”
    • Bloodbath (main quest) - Chapter 9 main quest.
    • Spies Among Us - Post The Dragon Slayer.
    • Statuary, Fine Art and Antaam - Around the “Dragon Slayer” main quest (got it after in the save Treviso playthrough and before in the save Minrathous playthrough).
    • Partners in a Dangerous Crime - After Fire and Ice -If you chose to save Minrathous over Treviso.
    • For the Love of Treviso - Chapter 11 main quest.
    • A Time to Kill - chapter 11 side quest which becomes available after you’ve completed the “For the Love of Treviso” main quest.

As an aside, while most of the factions are straightforward, there are 2 exceptions to that rule: the Antivan Crows in Treviso; and the Shadow Dragons in Dock Town, and that’s because of the decision you make in chapter 6: to rush to the aid of Treviso; or to rush to the aid of Minrathous.

Not only will that choice effectively change the area’s side missions, but it’ll also permanently remove the faction merchant from the HQ of whoever you didn’t choose.

The good news is that if you select to assist Minrathous, there’s enough side quests left in Treviso to take you over the 2,900 threshold (we reached it with a quest in Treviso to spare).

Once you get to 2,900 with the Antivan Crows, you’ll reach 3-stars and this achievement will unlock. As an aside, perhaps prepare a save before you do cross the 2,900 threshold, as like the companion quests, it can be a touch temperamental here too.

If you want to save Treviso whilst also unlocking all 7 in a run, try selling all your valuables up until chapter 6 to the Shadow Dragons (we reached 2,450 faction strength by the point of no return, so we were only 450 short in the end).

    Falling For You

    15

Defeated an enemy by knocking them off a ledge during combat.

There are loads of places to unlock the ‘Falling For You’ achievement in The Veilguard, but by far the easiest is in the Hall of Valor - in the combat arena that you can access after talking to Isabella.

That’s because in the middle of the Hall of Valor’s arena itself is a honking great hole. So, stand on the edge, get someone to rush you, and then when they’re on the edge strafe around them and drop a load of light and heavy attacks until they drop into the hole and meet their maker. Simples!

    Nostalgia Trip

    15

Tested for fall damage and survived in the Lighthouse.

The trick with the ‘Nostalgia Trip’ achievement is to unlock somewhere within the Lighthouse where the fall would usually cause fall damage - a nod back to Inquisition, we assume. The falling is the easy part, getting somewhere to fall from is a little less straightforward.

Fear not, we have the perfect spot! Firstly, you’ll want to move 6 statues dotted all over the Lighthouse map to face their counterpart:

    • Firstly, in the Courtyard, on the balcony above where the entrance is to the Library and your quarters, there are two statues next to each other that you need to make face one another.
    • Secondly, on the southside of the aforementioned balcony, twist the statue so it’s facing east. Then, run to the other side of the level (to the southside of the Dining Room) and then point that statue to face the previous one you moved.
    • Finally, there is another statue behind Bellara’s Workshop, make it face east. And then there’s one below (and behind) Neve’s Study, make it face west.

Doing that will unlock the Music Room, which can be found via a corridor to the north of the main Library area of the Lighthouse.

Then, a little later on, a couple of wisps will appear around the Lighthouse:

    • One in the Music Room;
    • And the other on the balcony overlooking the Courtyard, where 2 statues were previously.

Take those 2 wisps to the Music Room door and you’ll gain access to a new area where you can turn on the Astrolobe. Once you’ve done that, jump over the balcony and this achievement is all yours.

    Clear Minds and Open Hearts

    15

Let fly your voice to Mythal.

Once you’ve been through Solas’ sixth memory in the “Regrets of the Dread Wolf” side quest - which has you collecting 6 Fen’Harel statues and using them to unlock Solas’ regrets in the Lighthouse - the quest will then escalate considerably.

Once you’ve viewed the last memory, you’ll be prompted to head to the Crossroads to meet Morrigan. After that conversation you’ll head a little deeper into Beacon Island where you’ll meet Mythal. Yes, that Mythal.

Now, the key to getting this achievement is to persuade Mythal to join your cause without fighting her. It’s that simple.

To manage this, say the following responses when she’s asks why she should help you:

    • I want your help.
    • We must stop the blight.
    • You stood against it.
    • We are worthy.
    • Building a safe place.
    • We must stop the gods.
    • They wronged you.

Once you’ve done that, and she’s agreed to assist you, the ‘Clear Minds and Open Hearts’ achievement will unlock.

    Enhancements!

    25

Fully upgraded a weapon, armor, and accessory to their highest level and rarity.

    (1)

Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s weapon, armor and accessory systems are a touch weird, to say the least. That’s because there’s only like 10-20 pieces of armour in it (per class, we assume) and you just need to keep upgrading them to continue improving them.

    That can happen two ways:

    • Firstly, finding a duplicate item you already have changes its rarity.
    • Secondly, you can use the Caretaker’s Workshop to raise the level of a weapon all the way to a +10.

So, then, that means for this achievement you need to a.) find duplicate items galore (which will happen naturally as long as you seek out the large chests) and b.) get a ton of Mementos to level up the Caretaker’s Workshop to max level, allowing you to level up an item to level 10.

That takes 12,000 Caretaker Power to do that, which was at around the 150 Memento mark for us. So, you basically need 150ish out of the 180 Mementos. Now, while most of them you find in the open-world are worth 50 Caretaker Points, the Mementos sold by faction merchants when you max out their faction shops can be worth a whopping 200, so if you want to help you get there quicker, then seek them out ASAP.

And finally before we link you to the Mementos Location guide, it’s worth nothing that you only need to fully upgrade (Legendary and +10) any one weapon, any one piece of armour, and any one accessory (ring, belt or amulet), and you don’t even need to equip them either. Once you’ve done that, the ‘Enchancements!’ achievement will unlock.

    Happy hunting!
