Video Games

are one of the side activities available in Persona 5. In order to start playing them, you need to buy the Retro Game Console from the Second-hand shop in Yongen-Jaya which is available July 26th.

Playing video games differs from reading books in 2 ways:

  1. You'll get Social Stat points for each time you play, not just when you complete the game.
  2. You can fail a game if you didn't play it correctly so save beforehand to make sure you don't waste time.

There are 6 games in total that you'll need to complete in order to get the Golden Finger trophy. To help with this, you just need to play a game once (preferably Star Forneus) and then go buy the Game Secrets magazine at the Shinjuku book store. That will make the games easier to complete. There's no downside to using the cheats besides Morgana guilt tripping you.

If you complete a game, you'll earn a card which you can redeem at the Video Game Store in Akihabara for a reward.

Second Hand Store

Name Price Sessions Points per session
Star Forneus Free 3 Gu+2
Gambla Goemon 5200 2 Ch+2

Akihabara Retro Game Shop

Name Price Sessions Points per session Date
Punch Ouch 5300 3 Ch+2
Train of Life 5600 3 Ki+2
Power Intuition 5500 3 Gu+2 10/10
Golfer Sarutahiko 3200 3 Pro+2 10/10

Strategies

Every game has a different type of minigame challenge to it. Before playing a game, make sure to save in case you fail. Otherwise, you'll get nothing and it'd have been a waste of time. Here's what to expect from each game.

Star Forneus

For each session, you just need to hit the X button a set amount of times before time runs out. Here is what you need to do for each session

  1. Press X button 25 times in 7 seconds
  2. Press X button 30 times in 5 seconds
  3. Press X button 10 times in 3 seconds, than 40 times in 10 seconds

Using the cheat book reduces the needed amount of button presses by half.

Completing the game gets you the Shooting Card which you can redeem at the Retro Game shop in Akihabara for a Forneus Badge which gives you High Evasion to Physical attacks when equipped.

Gambla Goemon

All you have to do for this game is choose if the dice roll will be odd or even. It's HIGHLY recommended that you use the cheat book strategy here. If you get it wrong, it'll change the outcome so that you win anyway.

Completing the game earns you the Gambling Card that you can redeem for a Betting Badge which makes you immune to the status Fear when equipped.

Punch Ouch

You need to input the button sequence before time runs out. Here are the sequences for each session

  1. ←,→,←,→,X; followed by hitting X 5 times
  2. ←,→,←,→,X; followed by hitting X 5 times. Repeat twice.
  3. ↑,↑,X; Then hit X 10 times. Repeat twice. Then ←,→,←,→,↑,↑,X

Using the cheat strategy increases the amount of time you're allowed. Completing the game earns you the Boxing Card which can be redeemed for the Boxing Badge which makes you immune to Hunger when equipped.

Train of Life

The point of the game is to roll the dice to get a number in a specific range with a limited amount of attempts. The number ranges are as follows;

  1. 8 or higher, 3 chances
  2. Either 3, 5, 7, or 9; 3 chances
  3. 4, 8, or 12; 4 chances.

The cheat strategy increases the amount of chances you have by 2 for each session. Completing the game gets you the Railroad Card that you can redeem at the Video game store for a Train Badge which gives you Auto-Sukukaja when equipped.

Power Intuition

By far the most annoying out of all the games you'll play. Make sure to save before playing a session. This is a Mortal Kombat type game where you need to input buttons in a specific sequence. However, they need to be inputted incredibly quickly in a fluid quarter circle motion while the final session has a half circle motion. You'll basically have to roll your thumb around the d-pad. Here are the inputs for each session.

  1. ↓ ↘ → X
  2. ↓ ↘ → X; ↓ ↙ ← X
  3. ↓ ↘ → X; ↓ ↙ ← X; → ↘ ↓ ↙ ← → X

It's HIGHLY recommended to use the Cheat which gives you more time to input the combo because you'll need every second you can get. Beating this will earn you the Fighting Card that you can redeem for the PI Badge which Significantly reduces the amount of Physical damage you receive when equipped.

Golfer Sarutahiko

You need to stop the bar when it's in the yellow section so that the ball will get close to the hole. Get the ball in the hole within the allotted attempts. The cheat slows down the bar for you which makes it a lot easier to stop in the yellow section. Beating this game gets you the Golf Card that you can redeem for a Golf Badge which Nullifies Brainwash when equipped.
